Through my paintings I am able to celebrate the people and everyday realities and scenes of Africa.  My paintings often represent African concepts and images of figures and group scenes. I particularly enjoy painting portraits as it enables me to capture not only the beauty of the human form but also the essence and spirit of a person.

Over the years I have developed an interest in international development, specifically human rights and gender issues - elements of which are often represented in my paintings.  I believe in creating aesthetically pleasing art as well as art with a purpose which can be used as a tool to educate and raise awareness.

In 2009, I began to merge my passion for art with my interest in human rights by putting together an exhibition 'Women in Conflict' with London based artist Dara Park www.darapark.co.uk and Iraqui artist - Maysaloun Faraj www.mfaraj.com and have recently began working with the US non-profit organisation, Art Works for Change www.artworksforchange.org Currently, we have plans to tour the "Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women & Art" exhibition to Dakar in Senegal to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women. This project promotes the work of professional and emerging artists from around the world and acts as a catalyst to bring together artists, NGOs, policy makers and local communities to discuss and debate issues of concern to them.

Rich traditions from diverse cultures throughout Africa and the world continues to inspire my work. I am based in Wimbledon and I regularly exhibit with The Worple Group of Artists  www.worplegroup.co.uk.
