Through my paintings I am able to celebrate the people and everyday realities and scenes of Africa. My paintings often represent African concepts and images of figures and group scenes. I particularly enjoy painting portraits as it enables me to capture not only the beauty of the human form but also the essence and spirit of a person.
Over the past few years I have developed an interest in gender and human rights - elements of this can be seen in some of my paintings. I believe in creating aesthetically pleasing art as well as art with a purpose which can be used as a tool to educate and raise awareness. With my interest in human rights and international development, I completed a degree in Human Rights and Social Anthropology and continued on to pursue a masters degree in Education, Gender and International Development.
Growing up in Zambia and Ghana, made me appreciate their rich cultural heritages and those vivid memories still continue to inspire me today. I am based in Wimbledon and I regularly exhibit with The Worple Group of Artists www.worplegroup.co.uk.
